- Emeryville, CA-—January 22, 1990--Farallon Computing, Inc. today
- announced the addition of Jay Fenton, original author of MacroMind’s VideoWorks
- and Apple’s Playground, and Robert Pariseau, primary software designer of the
- Amiga computer, to its software product engineering staff.
- Fenton, 35, joins Farallon as a principal engineer and will be researching
- future multimedia architectures. For the last three years Fenton worked on
- Apple Computer’s Vivarium project, developing Playground, a multimedia
- programming environment for children.
- Prior to Apple, Fenton co-founded MacroMind, Inc. of San Francisco, and
- authored such popular programs as MusicWorks and VideoWorks. He came to
- MacroMind from the videogame industry, where he wrote The Spirit of 1776, the
- first microprocessor-controlled pinball machine ever shipped. He also is
- responsible for the GORF videogame and the Bally home videogame system.
- “I like bringing new products to market,” said Fenton. “Farallon has a grea
- reputation for making new ideas real.”
- Pariseau, 36, joins Farallon as a director of engineering and will be
- responsible for expanding the research and development organization to meet the
- needs of future products.
- Pariseau comes to Farallon from Presentation Technologies, where as vice
- president of engineering he was responsible for all product development,
- quality assurance and document control of the company’s desktop presentation
- products. He was the primary software designer of the Amiga Computer at
- Commodore-Amiga (formerly Amiga Corporation) cw, of Los Gatos, Calif., from
- 1983 to 1986. After Commodore-Amiga, Pariseau became vice president of
- engineering for Cubicomp Corp., of Hayward, Calif., a leading developer of 3-D
- imaging, modeling and animation systems.

- products,” said Pariseau. “I’m eager to help contribute to the company’s
- growth in research and engineering.”
- Pariseau has a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and a master’s
- degree from Harvard University, both in theoretical astrophysics.
